Students who need help often do not receive it until their issues become major problems. However, tutoring is most effective when it begins before such issues develop into major predicaments. The following is a checklist of signs that your child may need tutoring.
Does Your Child Need Tutoring?
- Your child’s grades begin to decline dramatically.
- Your child is no longer interested in their favorite subjects.
- Your child experiences extreme difficulty in completing assignments.
- Your child has difficulty understanding key concepts.
- Your child’s level of motivation drops significantly.
- You are unable to provide assistance to your child when s/he needs it (i.e. on assignments, with projects, etc.)
- Your child performs below level on exams, regardless of their grade in class.
- Your child displays excessive levels of uncertainty or anxiety in school or when completing homework
- Your child’s teacher or counselor recommends additional help.
- Your child seeks to maximize their score(s) on high-stakes endeavors such as the SAT, SAT II, ACT, AP or other exams.
- Your child is bored or is not challenged enough in class.
